My 3-question framework for validating startup ideas

If you're like me, new ideas pop into your head all the time. But how do you know which ones are actually worth your time?

Hey founder 👋

If you're like me, new ideas pop into your head all the time.

But how do you know which ones are actually worth your time?

I’ve wasted weeks building MVPs no one needed.

Sound familiar?

These days, I use a simple 3-question framework before I commit to anything.

It helps me stay focused and build only what matters.

1. Is there a real problem?
People need to feel the pain. If there’s no frustration or inefficiency - there’s no urgency to solve it.

2. Are people willing to pay for a solution?
Ideally, I want proof in the form of money. Even $5 is a good start.

3. Can I build 80% of the product in 2-4 weeks?
If not, either it’s not an MVP, or I’m the wrong person to build it.

If the answers are “yes” to all three - I move forward.
If not - I let it go.

This tiny framework saves me dozens of hours and a lot of mental energy.

Try it out on your next idea - and let me know how it goes.

P.S. I’d love to hear your method for idea validation. Just reply and share!
